We’ll be displaying this group quilt at Market next month, but are so excited we just couldn’t wait any longer to share it!
In December, we held a challenge with the NYC Metro Mod Quilt Guild, our local chapter of the Modern Quilt Guild. (Find your local chapter here!)
The guidelines, set in place by by the guild’s VP, Kim Hryniewicz, were simple and specific, yet flexible enough to allow for plenty of individual variety and creativity in the blocks. Featured fabrics are from our Sketch collection (select new colors released earlier this year), plus darks from our Soho Solids.
Members brought their blocks to the February meeting. Here are some on the collection table, patiently waiting for a home in the finished quilt. Look how different they all are!
Kim arranged and sewed the blocks into a top (we love how the colors go from warm in the center to cooler on the edges), and teamed up with guild president Victoria Findlay Wolfe for finishing. Victoria quilted it with fun vertical wavy lines, and Kim attached the binding. This project was a fabulous group effort, from conception all the way to reality!
A big THANK YOU to the Metro Mod members for making this possible! Here are the full quilt credits for all who contributed:
