We’re back with an update on the quilts that we worked on together at QuiltCon 2015!

Back in February we shared an exhibitor booth with our sister company, Dear Stella, for all four days of QuiltCon, hosted by the Modern Quilt Guild in Austin, TX. In addition to the stunning quilt show, there were demos, lectures, and classes – it was so much fun!

At our booth, attendees were invited to embellish 10″ squares of Dear Stella’s popular Wee Gallery “Dress Me” fabric with clothes, using appliqué and embroidery. Our plan was to piece the squares into fun quilts and donate them to a worthy cause.

The Linus Connection, based in Austin, works to make and deliver handmade blankets for children in crisis situations. They deliver to hospitals, foster homes, battered women’s shelters, and to other children in need. We wanted to give back to the community that hosted QuiltCon, so we thought The Linus Connection would be a great choice. Our friend Osie Lebowitz, who also lives in Austin, is a longtime volunteer for the organization and generously offered to help us out with our project!

By the end of QuiltCon, we had collected over 200 finished blocks and were so thrilled by the turnout. In case you missed the recap of our time there, click here to see some fun photos from the event. The blocks below were made by leaders of the first-ever Junior Modern Quilt Guild!

Today we have a final count of the quilts made from all the blocks we received, which were sent out to Osie along with colorful Dear Stella and Timeless Treasures fabrics to coordinate. The goal was to have eight quilts completed and ready to turn into The Linus Connection on July 18th, and the group of volunteers went above and beyond to exceed this goal.

We are proud to announce that *nine* quilts were completed by the amazing women pictured below. They believe that every child should have a quilt, and we couldn’t agree more. Awesome job ladies!! You can read about this project and see more photos on The Linus Connection blog here.

We are so grateful to everyone who joined us at this year’s QuiltCon to support such a worthy cause. You can click here to see the names of all the attendees who stopped by to stitch at our booth! (If you contributed a block but don’t see your name on this list, contact us!)

Amazing work everyone! Thank you so, so much!
